The 7 Habits of a RIM Program

Please note: This is an online-only meeting. Please register prior to September 19 at 4:00 pm mountain time; we will send login instructions shortly after that.

Dave Foley will examine a strategic model for a sustainable Records and Information Management program. The 7-step model establishes fundamental components for program foundation, business engagement, and program maturity. The discussion will be chock-full of lessons learned as Dave reviews the strategy and discusses how one company applied the 7-step model to build a sustainable RIM program. Topics include stepping through the strategy components, walking through effective RIM training and communication techniques, and learning how personal instinct and experience can contribute to a successful RIM program.

Three takeaways:

1. Learn how to establish a robust RIM program or update an existing program using a proven 7-step strategy.

2. Understand the purpose of each unique strategy component and how to align goals and work activities with the strategy.

3. Follow the strategy model illustration to “paint a picture” for your stakeholders and to communicate the strategy to the company.

Dave Foley is the Director of Records and Information Management (RIM) at ONEOK (pronounced “one oak”), a Fortune 200 diversified energy company, where he has built a state-of-the art RIM program based upon the strategy above. He started a Peer Roundtable forum for RIM professionals to apply knowledge and converse openly about successes and challenges in an atmosphere of trust and support.
